The department of history started in the college in 1992.It offers eight complementary courses to BA English Programme. Social and Cultural History of Britain and Modern World History from AD 1500 are the two group opted and each group consists of four courses. The courses opted here primarily aims at introducing the fundamentals of historical knowledge with special reference to British and European history. The course also aims to enable the students of English literature to understand the historical contexts that the various literary genres flourished. The department is manned by one assistant professor. This department utilises the facilities of general computer lab, INFLIBNET and General Library. There are more than 1054 history books in the library that makes history learning more fruitful. Innovative methods in learning like ICT presentation, TCI and group learning method of Marvin Marshal etc make history learning more effective and interesting.
