SC/ST Welfare committee

Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) have been identified as the two most backward groups of Indian Society. They include all such castes, races or tribes, which have been declared as scheduled castes and scheduled tribes by the Constitution of India under the provisions of Article 341 and 342 of the Constitution of India. The cell has been established to support and to bring students from such communities in the main stream. SC/ST cell in the college has been functioning from 2012 with an aim to empower these students in the college. SC/ST cell and college takes special interest in facilitating scholarships and financial support to these students from government agencies and other sources. College and Cell also supports and facilitate to their special needs like remedial classes and mentoring.

 

The main objectives of forming SC and ST committees in higher education institutions are:

  • To promote the education and welfare of SC and ST students by providing them with appropriate support and assistance.
  • To ensure that SC and ST students have equal access to education and are not discriminated against in any way.
  • To provide a forum for SC and ST students to voice their concerns and seek help in resolving any issues they may face in their studies.
  • To work towards improving the representation and participation of SC and ST students in higher education.
  • To promote research on issues related to SC and ST communities and to provide opportunities for SC and ST students to pursue research in these areas.
  • To facilitate the implementation of affirmative action policies and programs for SC and ST students.

Overall, the main goal of SC and ST committees in the institute is to ensure that these historically marginalized groups have the same opportunities as other students to succeed academically and to contribute to the knowledge and development of society.
