Structure of FYUGP Courses

  • Major Disciplines: Students choose one primary subject of specialization, which they study in-depth across all semesters. Major courses offered by the departments include:
    • Arabic (BA Arabic Language and Literature Honours)
    • English (BA English Language and Literature Honours)
    • Commerce (Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Honours)
    • Mathematics (BSc Mathematics Honours)
    • Physics (BSc Physics Honours)
    • Chemistry (BSc Chemistry Honours)
  • Minor Disciplines: Students select two additional subjects to broaden their academic base, other than the major discipline. Minor courses are offered by the following departments:
    • Arabic
    • Commerce
    • Chemistry
    • Computer Science
    • English
    • History
    • Mathematics
    • Physics
    • Physical Education
    • Statistics
  • Foundation Courses: These courses are compulsory and cover essential competencies like language proficiency (English, regional languages), value-added courses, multi-disciplinary courses, and skill enhancement courses.
  • Elective Courses: Discipline-specific, ability enhancement, and value-added electives allow customization of the academic path depending on students’ career goals.
  • Practicum and Internships: FYUGP includes a mandatory internship or apprenticeship component, enabling students to gain practical experience in industry, research labs, or community organizations.
  • Honours and Honours with Research: After three years, students may exit with a degree or continue for a fourth year to earn honours or honours with research, especially in institutions with approved research centres.
