The Department of Arabic, Pookoya Thangal Memorial Govt. College is one of the oldest centres of studying and teaching Arabic in the State of Kerala. The department began functioning from 1978 and it became a full-fledged one by the commencement of BA Degree Course in Arabic Language & Literature in 1991. In 2001, it was elevated to the P.G. Department under the University of Calicut. The department has been recognised as Research Centre for research works in Arabic Language and Literature in 2018. There are 108 students at UG level and 40 students at PG level carrying on their studies under eight efficient faculty members.
